Someone once parked a DeSoto, made by the Chrysler Corp., on the circular drive of the Ford Motor company's Headquarters building. After a week went by people began to take notice. "Who did the competitor's car belong to" they wondered. Another week went by. In a staff meeting someone brought it to Mr. Ford's attention and asked if he knew who the car belonged to. Mr. Ford said that it was his; he bought it. Startled, they asked why he would buy a competitors car and park it in front of his own headquarters building. Mr. Ford growled, "Because no one around here asked me to buy a Ford!"
He was driving home the important point that - if we want someone's business, we have to ask for it. Persistence is a lesson we can all learn from children.
